I don’t always feel like putting on my makeup, and sometimes it is tempting to go without. There are some places where I feel totally good going even if I skipped my makeup routine, but most days it just not possible. If I am going to work, or anywhere else where my skin might have significant sun exposure, I always make sure my face is covered. I have super sensitive skin, so I really try to make sure, at minimum, that I have on sun protection. But, I feel way more confident when the full look comes together. My morning makeup routine lasts just eight minutes, and once I have put the time in, I feel way more confident and ready to take on the day!
Makeup doesn’t have to be complicated, and I am not going to give you a masterclass in how to put your makeup on. This is really about confidence- not make up. My eight minute make up routine gives me confidence, but there are dozens of other ways you can start your day off feeling like the confident super star you are!
- Makeup is an easy choice, so we can start there- If you don’t believe what a difference it makes, take a before and after picture of yourself. (see mine below) This will help you actually SEE your transformation beyond your daily routine!
- Wear perfume- I don’t wear it every day, but when I do I always feel feminine and confident. I prefer scents that smell a little like cotton candy. I’m not sure why, but the sweet smell makes me feel extra girly!
- Find the best of your closet- it doesn’t have to be fancy, but wear clothes that make you feel confident! That usually starts with fit. If it doesn’t fit right, don’t wear it!
- Accessorize- If you normally don’t wear jewelry consider adding some bling to your day. If you do, then add just one more piece. Don’t overdo it! Small changes make all the difference.
- Plan and organize your day- Taking a few minutes at the beginning of the day to decide what your priorities will be for the day will help you stay on track and have a sense of accomplishment.
- Exercise- So, if I am being honest, I don’t spend a ton of time on this, but I have a friend that I have seen really jump into exercise, and the confidence just flows through her. I really need to get on this, and probably for way longer than 8 minutes!
- Eat breakfast- This, I do without fail every day! Starting the day off with a good breakfast helps you stay focused and engaged throughout out the day.
- Surround yourself with great people- There are a lot of things in life we don’t have a choice about, but one thing we, for sure, have a choice about is who our friends are. Surround yourself with people that love and respect you the way you love and respect them. Detox your personal relationships by seeking out people that support you in your goals and encourage you to be your best!
- Conquer something big- Set out to accomplish something you never dreamed you could. You probably can’t accomplish this in 8 minutes, but every minute you spend on this will be so worth it! Go all in or take it one bite at a time. Either way- just do it!

Totally! I am all about look good feel good! I don’t know why makeup can seem like such a pain sometimes. When I actually timed it I couldn’t believe it was only 8 minutes! Well worth it!
